Leadership Training Retreat
CGN hosts an annual Leadership Training Retreat for those who are ready to join the cause of intentional grandparenting as either presenters for our Courageous Grandparenting Seminars and workshops or as a director of a CGN GrandCamp program. Participation in a Leadership Training Retreat is BY INVITATION ONLY.
If you feel that you might qualify and have a passion for motivating and equipping grandparents for the biblical role of grandparenting, you are encouraged to request a Leadership Training Application form, complete, and submit for an invitation to one of our Leadership Training Retreats. Our next training retreat for 2017 will be April 30-May 3, 2017.
WHAT IS A LEADERSHIP TRAINING RETREAT?
The Leadership Training Retreat is a three-day intensive training retreat for couples and individuals identified by CGN for one of two leadership tracks: (1) potential facilitators and presenters for Courageous Grandparenting seminars and workshops. It is designed to look in depth at the content of the seminars, develop effective presentation skills, and brainstorm creative ways to make the presentations relevant and practical, OR (2) as a GrandCamp Director/Staff Leader. This track focuses on the tools necessary to produce and direct an effective GrandCamp program.
WHY IS CGN DOING A LEADERSHIP TRAINING RETREAT?
Our Executive Director has been the sole presenter for the Courageous Grandparenting seminars and events since they began, and until recently, the primary director of our GrandCamp programs. As part of our mission to champion a movement of intentional grandparents throughout the country. we believe we must also identify, train and send out teams of other qualified couples and individuals who can multiply this effort with us. The Leadership Training Retreat allow us to establish a core teaching team, replicate our efforts nationally or globally, and ensure we are all on the same page.
WHO MAY PARTICIPATE IN A LEADERSHIP TRAINING RETREAT?
Participants in a Leadership Training Retreat are by INVITATION ONLY. Our goal is to invite 20-25 qualified trainees for each 3-day intensive training session we host. We are looking for individuals and couples who share our passion for the cause of equipping grandparents to nurture and disciple the next generations, and who demonstrate effective teaching and Bible skills necessary for this role. If you believe you have the necessary qualifications to become part of our presenter team, or to direct a GrandCamp program in your area, you are welcome to complete an information application and submit it. Once that is received, you will be contacted by phone to explore the possibility further. If approved for further evaluation, you will be asked to complete a more detailed application form and along with a pastor’s recommendation. If approved as a possible candidate, an invitation will be sent to you to participate in the next available Leadership Training Retreat.
WHAT HAPPENS AT A LEADERSHIP TRAINING RETREAT?
Track One digs deep into the Courageous Grandparenting material, how to do an effective presentation, and how to effectively engage churches to host an event. The Leadership Training Retreat will also feature guest presenters to augment our content with specialized training in specific areas that will increase our effectiveness as presenters.
Track Two examines all the ingredients of an effective GrandCamp program, why each is necessary, how to recruit and train a great GrandCamp staff, and how to effectively put all the pieces together for an exciting grandfaith adventure for grandparents and their grandkids.
The 3-day training will be divided into segments, each segment involving content instruction, a practicum for effectively presenting the content, and a Q&A evaluation session. The seminar track content is based upon the book by Executive Director, Cavin Harper, Courageous Grandparenting: Unshakable Faith in a Broken World. Each participant in either track is expected to have read the book prior to the Leadership Training Retreat.
